Ocearch - Hilton Head

For those of you who don’t know OCEARCH, they are, according to their website, “a global non-profit organization conducting unprecedented research on our ocean's giants in order to help scientists collect previously unattainable data in the ocean. The mission is to accelerate the ocean's return to balance and abundance through fearless innovations in critical scientific research, education, outreach, and policy using unique collaborations of individuals and organizations in the U.S and abroad.” Costa is and has been partnered with OCEARCH for years to bring awareness to the movement and create frames/designs inspired by both great white and tiger sharks.

In 2017, I had the opportunity to be a part of the OCEARCH research when Costa allowed me to join their team in Hilton Head and go out to try to catch, tag and name some sharks. After they tag these sharks, they put the data on their website and you can go online to follow along with the sharks they catch as they move up and down the coastline each year.
